Situated in the
Golfo Paradiso (Paradise Bay) on the west side of the
Portofino peninsula. On the east is the Golfo Tigullio
with the famous resorts of Portofino (“playground
of the rich”), Santa Margarita Ligure and Rapallo.
Recco is the gastronomic capital of the region, being
famous for it’s focaccia ( a type of bread), especially
foccaccia al formaggio. Recco has a selection of good
restaurants serving local delicacies, especially fish.
The “4Vele” should be visited at least once
for its foccaccia formaggio and “La
Villetta”, situated by the bus-stop (your
terrace backs on to the restaurant!), serves excellent
food.

A new Lido and beach have recently been
completed and there are two swimming pools, one of which
is Olympic size
(Recco has a championship water
polo team) and open year round.
Many beautiful walks can be enjoyed in the area with maps
available in the apartment. Tennis can be played locally
and of course very good snorkeling. There are two childrens'
playgrounds in Recco.
The one on the beach has a merry-go-round
with a nearby ice cream parlour.
Parking space is available for a small
car but it should be noted that, particularly in the summer,
parking is extremely difficult in most of the towns and
cities in the region.
Public transport is excellent. The bus (very comfortable)
for Genoa (roughly every half-hour) stops on the main
road at the end of the short private road from the apartment.
The bus looks like a coach (it even has a luggage compartment
underneath).
Trains from Recco to other cities, such as Genoa, Santa
Margherita Ligure, Rapallo, Chiavari, etc. are as frequent.
Pleasure boats follow various routes along the coast from
Genoa to Sestri Levante calling in at many of the small
towns (including Recco) along the way and provide a lasting
memory of a romantic day out.
Bus and train timetables can be found in the apartment.
